Fire Restrictions at Central Oregon Campgrounds to be Enforced effective Monday, May 18th 2026.
Central Oregon — Due to recent weather patterns, including above-average temperatures, low relative humidity and predicted winds, the Deschutes National Forest, Ochoco National Forest and Crooked River National Grassland will move into Stage 1 Public Use Fire Restrictions on Monday, May 18, at 12:01 a.m.This park is a forty-two acre park located at 16525 Burgess Road. It has a covered Picnic pavilion and is the first of the La Pine parks to have a soft landing into the Little Deschutes River. There are dry campsites and plans to increase the number of wet campsites in the future. In the meantime, there is an outdoor amphitheater, a play area for children, river access and plenty of room to enjoy the outdoor setting that seems far removed from downtown. Float the river, have a picnic or even plan a big party at the pavilion. You can do it all at Rosland Campground!
A Little Bit of History
Use of this campsite dates back to 1826 when the Hudson Bay Company trappers, led by Peter Skene Ogden, trapped for Beaver in this area. In 1897, the Rosland Post Office was established on the east side of the river. BJ Pengra was named Postmaster. Dennis Mathews was the first ranger at the Rosland Ranger Station established here in 1908 and was abandoned in 1933. This campground was developed in 1965 through cooperation of La Pine residents and the U.S. Forest Service.
